Realtors and stockbrokers will tell you the time to buy is NOW! However, they will profit from the transaction immediately while yours may be delayed or your investment will lose value. When is the right time to get married? Fifty years ago it was in your late teens-mid-twenties, now couples are putting off marriage till late thirties or even their forties. But waiting isn't the best strategy in the long run. You may be ready, but your partner or the markets may not. Then, when conditions improve, you may have health or career problems so the time isn't right for you.

What's the answer, you ask, can't I buy a crystal ball on e-bay and use it to guide my decisions?
The answer is that timing and luck are bound together, and the only way to win is to stay at the table and keep rolling the dice. Another strategy is to shoot for reasonable goals rather than the big, life-changing win. Most dramatic, life-changing events are bad for those concerned, the spot on the X-ray scan, the arrest on false charges, the divorces and layoffs and betrayals the lie before us on the perilous journey to the end. Using the baseball analogy, if you swing for the fences, you're going to strike out a lot. Get on base and move it along, savor the little victories and treasure them when life knocks you to the ground and puts its ugly, toe-jam-smelling foot on your neck.

The other side of being employed!

Career changes are dificult in the best of times, but then you're middle-aged and in a recession, they can seem to be impossible. Often, your pessimism is your own worst enemy, remember that landing the job is often a matter or luck and timing over education and experience. People skills and a strong work ethic will come through in the interview, just strike a balance between self-confidence and cooperative spirit. You will get the job, you just have to keep developing your network skills.

Does anyone out there believe that the postings are the minimum standards for applicants? They are a "wish list", and can be compared to the singles ads where men are posting for a centerfold model, and women for a tall, blue-eyed doctor who's a great listener. These people exist, but they aren't reading the singles ads, they are already spoken for or suffer from toxic personality syndrome. The point is to concentrate on the qualifications you do have, and don't worry about meeting all the points on their wish list. Remember, we're dealing with human beings, not a car you can order from the factory in your favorite color with all the options you want.

How the other half lives..

Man, today I read it somewhere (one of those gossip sites).. that People mag & OK are willing to fetch a hefty sum for the pics of Brad & Angie's twins.. say about 15 mils... I mean, lucky for those that only have to commute, say, 10-20 miles a day to work (round trip). Unfortunately for most of us, that is not the case.. High cost of housing forces people to buy far and far from there work place.. and then commute to work.I have a personal friend, she works in Irvine and lives in San Diego! It's crazy. I once had a woman told me that she and her husband live in Bakersfield, and yet she works in San Pedro, yikes!I was in DC last week and heard on the news that gas in Iran is like under a dime!!

Psychic Junkie

Yep, first thought that ran through my mind this manic Monday was … I need to call my astrologer to ask him what to do about my job!! Mind you, I love my job. I love being able to lounge “at work” in my PJ, dragging my ‘big’ behind to the desk and yawn freely without covering my mouth while checking emails. But then reality hits like a thunder strike when I read through my emails… Damn, another request for more information on the case I though I burried it 20 ft down under. I swear, sometime I’d think those cases have nine lives … just when you thought you had the last nail on the coffin.. it is alive, again!!!

Back to the astrologer thing, I must admit that I have this thing for those stuff. I read my monthly astrology religiously ( it should help if only I can figure out how planetary works). I went to numerous so-called pyschics.. from those that speak my native tongue to those that I barely understand what they were trying to convey!! But they are so addictive, especially when you have that burning questions… I am gonna get a new job, Is my ‘other half’ loves me , what about my boss ( is an alien going to beam him to another galaxy soon) etc, etc….Sometime I wonder if those pyschics have such great ability, do they know how many client they’ll have in a day, can they see their own future?? I’ve met some celebrity pyschics.. I must say, they are …good( at charging an arm and a leg), and they smelled awfully nice! But I have to say, there is one astrologer that I really admired. He was right on with so many things that went on in my ’so called life’. He does not have a crystal ball, he does not burn incense, nor does he read from a cup of tea. He took my time of birth, place of birth.. and voila… right smack on the money (OK, he does more than that).

There was a time in my life that I am pretty much at the deep end of the ocean! Gosh, I went to like 12+ different psychics, astrologers, medium, clairvoyant… in a 3 weeks period. Every time, I’d wish that they would say/see something different. Then after about two months of sort, I was overload!!! Then one day, I was on my way back from running errands I passed by a temple. I made a U-turn and went inside. So peaceful, so serene! I meditated for about fifteen minutes and left. That night, alone in the living room. It all came clear to me, no matter how many psychic I am going to see, or what they say , no one can change my life, except myself. That moment I know I’ve seen “the light”. “the light” continued to be with me to this day and now, everytime I about to ‘burned out’ in my job, instead of calling psychics, I’d get in my car and drive to South Coast… at least I know for sure, if I dont like it, it is guanranteed refundable!!! At the end, nothing beats retail therapy!

Widows & Orphans

So it goes.. another week is already about to start! As I continued contemplating my own existence in this chaotic work, work, work life. I couldn’t help but think of those cases I’ve worked in the past years. So much sadness, sorrow in each case. It gives so much meaning to the phrase ” Life is short”. One time, I had a case where I found myself sitting in this big, beautiful house with a view over the pacific ocean. I wouldn’t call it a house, more like a little villa. Yet, the occupancy is: 1. The other person just passed away not too long after the house was renovated! Then there is one that I found myself in this tiny, but neatly house with a widow and her three young kids. The children are so beautiful and innocent. The widow was tending her children and as the same time answering my questions. I can feel in her voice; a mixture of pain, mad, and the sadness in her eyes after she finished telling me her story.Cases like these make me want to go home and hug my loved ones a little closer. Makes me want to slow down (not to reach 95 mph to beat the darn traffic) and enjoy every breath, sip my tea instead of gulping down! Then again, I logged in, checked my email and found that darn LV purse is going up nearly 5 % very soon! I guess when everything fails, there is always ..retail therapy for the soul!
